I'm BACK!

And I am exhausted. California was nice, the weather was much, much cooler than it was back East. Did a little bit of sightseeing. Went to Coronado twice, had lunch at the Hotel del Coronado, went to the beach and went to Tijuana. Mr. K enjoyed our trip South of the Border, I couldn't wait to get the hell out of there. It was smelly, noisy and generally unpleasant. Mr. K liked haggling with the vendors. I spent a summer in Peru so I thought that I would be used to the constant barrage of vendors yelling at you to buy their wares. But I wasn't. I was glad to get back across the border.

So now back to the packing and planning as this is my last official week in MD! WOO HOO!

From the "Management"

I am borrowing this post from a blog that I read on a regular basis. It sums up my feelings towards blogging and those who read blogs.

So many people are changing blog addresses... some because of blog stalkers, some because of real life, some because the author feels like they really can't speak freely on their own blog...
I've wrestled with the last one myself.
Just let me take a moment to clarify *my* blog...
The key word here is MY.
My blog is like my brain "on paper"
This is my scared space, the place I write my thoughts, not for the reader, but for me.
Getting things out helps me get perspective sometimes, it is a place I can vent without it having an effect in my real life... this is where I can write both truth and lies, I write about things as I see them... which may not necessarily be accurate from the perspective of another.
It is where I can write my feelings and emotions which will change at my whim...
I may be mad today and happy tomorrow and that is OK...
I don't write to offend, but it may.
I don't write to hurt, but it can.
I don't write to entertain, but sometimes it's too damn funny to leave it in my head.
I write about deep issues and shallow ones... sometimes it reflects my actual self, other times it does not.
Please don't take anything I say here too seriously or to heart...
These are simply the things that clatter around in my brain in any given moment.

Goodbye Mr K!

Mr. K left for the great white north yesterday. I am so lonely. I have a ton of crap to do though before I leave for CA this weekend. The mover guy is coming over to look at my crap and decide how many movers he needs to send to my place. Which means that I have to clean up and decide what I need to bring with me for the next several weeks. I am sure I am going to forget to bring something!

Less than 2 weeks until the move. YAY! or NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Weekend update

Had a great time with Mr. K this weekend. Hung out with some friends, saw some family and ate a lot of food.

I have a feeling that this week is going to go quickly. Mr. K leaves for a trip this week and I have two going away luncheons in my honor. Gone for a week to CA and then I am back for three days and then move to Philly.

Where has the time gone?

Dodge Drama Part 5

Today as I was walking to my car to go get lunch with Noelle I realized that the open door button on my car remote fell off. It has now become the ghetto key chain. I have a second one at home but do I really want to use it? That would require taking all of the keys off of my current key chain. Too much work involved.

Also last week I had the get the darn windshield replaced because I got this big crack on it a few months back while driving on the Beltway. Cost me $100. A tiny rock hit my windshield this morning on the way to work and I almost freaked out.

Don and Mike Links

I have noticed that I have gotten a lot of hits when people have been searching for "Don and Mike". I thought that I would include some links to the unfortunate death of Freda and to the show in general:

Move over boys here I come!!!

I joined Mr. K's fantasy football league yesterday. There were desperate for teams and I have been wanting to play for a couple of years now. I can't believe that they let me in, hehehe! So now I have to start paying attention to summer camp and online speculations about who is gonna be good this year. So Bull, Mr. K and Mole if you're reading this "Are you ready for some FFFOOOTTTBALLLLL"!!!!!

Buongiorno!

I have a subscription to audible.com and this month I downloaded Learn in Your Car: Italian 1. I have always wanted to go to Italy and Italian is so close to Spanish that I thought I would give it a shot. So I have been listening to it and I think that I will be able to do pretty well with it. I wrote down the phrases that are on the recording so I can memorize them and repeat them to myself. I find that the easiest way to learn a language is to be able to speak it and memorize the terms.

When I was a little girl I only spoke Spanish. One of my earliest memories was running around my grandmother's kitchen with a tomato asking her to put salt on it so that I could eat it. (Ugh I can't eat raw tomatoes anymore prob cause I ate so many when I was younger). My mother taught me English the year before I started kindergarten and I was put into an English speaking class. My mother also taught me to read at an early age so that I was already able to read when I started school. The sink or swim approach worked for me and I am hoping to take the same approach to learning Italian. Maybe next year I can take a trip to Rome or Venice. Wouldn't that be nice :)

Total shock....

I got an email from a friend who told me that Freda Sorce the wife of Don Geronimo of the Don and Mike show died in a car accident near Ocean City last weekend. For those who are fans of the D&M show this is a blow. I used to love when Freda came on she was such a great personality. Also I just found out that David Hanes from WPGC here in DC died. He did the news on the Donnie Simpson show. He had such a great radio voice.

I am in total shock.

Here's Your Sign.

This post is dedicated to the moron who decided to just stop dead on the on-ramp to 195 N this morning outside of BWI.

I was dropping off Mr. K at the Amtrak Station at BWI this morning before heading to work. The weather was starting to get crappy so I was taking my time. There were 2 cars ahead of me driving on the on-ramp to 195. All of a sudden the first car just decided to stop. Meanwhile, there were a few other cars behind me. I am like "What the..."? The guy gave no indication that he was having car problems he just stopped. So after blaring my horn the guy decided to move on. When I passed him I noticed that he was on the phone. ON THE GODDAMN CELL PHONE!

How do you just stop on an on ramp to a major highway? Are you inconsiderate or just an ass? Having lived in MD for 4 years I would say the latter.

So to the the guy who almost cause a serious accident this morning I say to you "HERE'S YOUR SIGN"!.

If you are fan of Blue Collar Comedy Tour or Bill Engvall you're laughing your ass off right now.

Pearls Before Swine.

I just found a new favorite comic strip. (Don't worry Foamy you are still number 1 in my heart)! It's called Pearls Before Swine. If you like Foamy you'll probably like this too.

It's muy bueno!

Random Things...

a) I got a 100 on my math test! Go me (and thanks to Mr. K for his help).
b) I can't stop eating Cheetos. For the past week I have had some everyday. Last night on the way home from class I stopped at CVS to pick up a bag and the woman behind the counter asked if I was having dinner. I said "Yup".
c) I have an effed up headache today. A co-worker said that it's a sinus headache attributed to the tropical storm heading away. I said it's cause the little martians burrowing in my brain.
d) I just realized that I move in 4 week. AARRGGHHH!!!!
e) I am listening to "Do the Bartman" on XMradio.com

DO THE BARTMAN!!!!!
WHOA MAMA!

I have had enough!

Today I read an article that an American Indian trible in Iowa is forbidding one of its members from allowing her child to be adopted by a white couple. Their rationale is that the child is better off living in the tribe because his cultural heritage is in jepardy if adopted by non NAs. Can you believe it? What's next, a African American child's adoption will be haulted because an AA says that the child's culture is at risk? That is ridiculous. If a child can be taken out of a situation where it cannot be taken care of and given to someone who will care for and love the child isnt that what is important? The same this with gay adoption. A shild will not become homosexual if he/she is adopted by a gay couple. What is this world coming to?

You're To Kill a Mockingbird!

by Harper Lee

Perceived as a revolutionary and groundbreaking person, you have
changed the minds of many people. While questioning the authority around you, you've
also taken a significant amount of flack. But you've had the admirable guts to
persevere. There's a weird guy in the neighborhood using dubious means to protect you,
but you're pretty sure it's worth it in the end. In the end, it remains unclear to you
whether finches and mockingbirds get along in real life.

Heed my warning!

Last night Mr. K and I went to Philly's Chinatown for some dinner. We ate at a place that looked ok. Actually the food was good and things were going fine until...a piece of rat poo landed on our table when the waiter brought out a couple of coke cans we had ordered. My K. just looked at me and he knew what I was about to say. I have this thing about drinking out of code cans, I won't do it without a straw. Actually I don't like to drink out of any glass without a straw unless I cleaned the glass myself. I heard a story a few years ago about soda cans that are kept in warehouses and basements where mice crawl over them and poop on them. That totally freaked me out and hence my straw fixation. So when the poop incident occured I said "See I told you so!". So please heed my warning! USE THE STRAW!

Thank you.
