It's only Wed.

I finally finished little Mr. K's Halloween costume last nite. All I have to do is clean up some threads and its ready to wear. I'll try and get a pic of it to post here.

On another note I went to my Dr's today for a gyn exam. While she was performing thebreast exam she says to me , "How old are you"?. I reply, "30". She then says, "your breasts feel a lot younger than that". I didn't know what to say so I go, "OK". What do you say when you get such an off-hand compliment like that?

What I want for Xmas...

Is a Kill-a-watt meter! You plug this baby into a wall and then plug your appliance into this device and it tells you how much energy you are wasting um I mean using. :) I am going to start threathening Mr. K with this! Get yours at this site.

Happy, happy, joy, joy!

Oh joy!

I misplaced (lost) my little wallet that holds my PATCO card and my business cards. I called PATCO this morning to tell them that I lost it. Turns out that another Fed employee found it and called me to let me know that she had it. YAY! Let's see whether or not they cancelled it yet.

She's crafty!

Here are some door signs that I made last weekend. I decoupaged the backgrounds on some board and painted the letters. I also added on some scrapbook cut-out I had lying around and used 3d stickies on the letters to give them a 3d effect. Decoupaging is a lot harder than I thought it would be. I def want to give it another shot with another project.

Money mag article.

CNN/Money has a great article on 25 ways to save money/get rich. Take some time and check this out. For instance I did not know that you can have both a traditional and Roth IRA. Pretty cool.

Oh, hell no!

After a somewhat dissapointing season of PR3 they went ahead and made Jeffrey the winner. Boo! Hiss! Michael baby, you had it. What happened? Laura was great but predictable and Uli was robbed.

Restaurant.com

I totally forgot about what a cool site Restaurant.com is. You can get a discount gift certificate to eat out. There are a bunch of places in the Philly area. Plus with coupon code 90210 you can get 50% off. I got a $10 dining certificate for Cafe Spice (for lunch) for $1.50!

Moving the money posts.

I decided that I am going to be starting a personal finance blog that will only deal with my money saving strategies. So far I have posted once and got some great responses. I'll keep updating this blog but with less money issues. If you want to check out the other blog go to DivineMsN's Saving Advice blog.

Two things so far this week.

Today is the last day in NJ to register to vote for the 2006 elections. I for one am an un-registered voter and I intend to keep it that way. Actually the last time I voted was 2001. Why am I not registered you ask? Well I refuse to vote for either party. I am somewhat loosely affialiated with the democrats but honestly can you say that there is a difference between either party anymore? They are both corrupt and out of touch with the common person. I refuse to support either side so I will not vote.

I met with a financial planner yesterday. I am going to meet with him again so that we can actually see where my money is going and how I can make it grow. Being a single woman I have to make sure that I have enough dinero in the bank to live (to live the way I want to live). Right not the only asset I have is my car and we all know she aint much. :) Actually I do have a 401k thru work but I need to save some more. The FP asked me to think about how I want to retire and because I never thought about it before. It's a good question.

Have I finally grown up?

I am been taking a serious look at my finances lately. I have been saving a little money and God knows I should be doing a lot more. I have been cutting out unnecessary purchases (good-bye audible.com) and trying to see where my money really goes. I am working hard to pay off all of my credit cards and working harder not to put a balance on them. I found out that there is a federal credit union that I can join. I am thinking about funding a IRA thru them. I will just have to make sure that I cut out some more unnecessary fun :( Oh boy, have I finally grown up?

25 Things I do to save money.

1. I try to use coupons for everything. I used to have a coupon book now I just keep them in a folder.

2. I have a warehouse membership. I just got it this week and used it to buy kitty litter and cat food. Spent about $40 but I wont need food for 5 weeks (at 0.29 cents a can) and litter for about the same time as well.

3. I use The Grocery Game in conjunction with coupons. I buy what's on sale.

4. Every month I sock away money into my savings account before I spend it.

5. I read frugal/financial blogs for more ideas on how to save.

6. I pack my lunch at least 3 times a week.

7. I make my own clothing when I can.

8. I make my own cards. Its cheaper and more meaningful.

9. I started using the local library.

10. I use mass transit to go to work.

11. I cook from scratch and make extra to give to Mr. K/freeze.

12. Use my heat and a/c only when necessary.

13. Turn off all lights when I don't need them.

14. Pay bills online so I don't have to pay late fees.

15. Pick up change from the ground and save it.

16. Put money in my employer matched 401k.

17. Wash clothes every two weeks.

18. Use the internet to bargain hunt.

19. Use email whenever possible so I don't use up my cell phone minutes.

20. Stockpile groceries when they are on sale.

21. Pay more than the minimum on my credit cards.

22. Sell unneeded items on Ebay.

23. Use a Flexible Spending Account for my health related expenses.

24. Combine errands to save on gas.

25. Use Netflix instead of going out to the movies too often.

The idea for this list came from Frugal Upstate. Thanks for sharing!

Money website I like.

I have been doing a lot of money/budgeting blog reading lately. I am working hard to get my finances under control. Especially now that I am considering making a huge purchase soon. One blog that I read daily is Boston Gal's Open Wallet. It is very informative and she is very honest about how she spends and saves money.

Back from a long weekend.

Yesterday I had the day off. Boy it felt good. I got some stuff done around my apt and hung out with the cats. I managed a trip to Wally World to look for a halloween pattern for little Mr. K. While there I found some really cool fabric that had license plates on them. I made a pair of pj bottoms for Mr. K. He looked great in them and did a little runway walk for me :) I have to fix the waistband. I think that the elastic that I got wasn't tight enough so the pants were a little loose on Mr. K. I am making a matching pair for myself (I know, I know...nerd)!
