Aqua Teen Hunger Force Rocks!

I have really gotten into Aqua Teen Hunger Force on Adult Swim. I rented the DVDs from Netflix and at first I just didn't get it. But by the 2nd DVD I found myself laughing at their stupidity. My favorite characters are the Moonites and my fave episode so far has been when they come back and steal the 70s belt from Carl. Thank goodnes for Netflix, it has opened up my horizons.

Arabber

Tonight I was watching Homicide and they mentioned the profession arabber. Apparently these type of people (usually black men) go around from neighborhood to neighborhood selling food from a horse drawn cart. I actually saw one these guys when I lived in the Mt. Vernon neighborhood. I thought it was so cool but had no idea that it was an important part of Bsltimore's history. Who said you can't learn from tv?

My Fave New Band- The Killers

It isnt very often that I come upon a band that blows my mind. The minute I saw this video on VH1 I was floored. They have such a cool 80s British rock thing going on- and they are from Vegas, go figure! They remind me of U2 but with a really cool techno thing going on. Check them out. I got their cd at Best buy for $7.99 quite the steal :)

Jon Stewart VS Tucker Carlson

I generally like CNN anchorman Tucker Carlson. I have his latest book (autographed even) and even though I don't always agree with what he says I respect his views. But I thought that his latest show (Crossfire) with Jon Stewart he acted like as ass. Even Paul Begalla just sat there and let Tucker dig his own hole. Jon Stewart was sincere and honest and Tucker was a pompus shit. Don't believe me watch the video.

Getting Ready for Halloween.

So I went out recently and bought some more Halloween decorations cause what I has was pretty pathethic. I got some neat light-up pumpkins and some stuff to wrap around the railing. I really like Halloween cause it is so cute to see the kids dressed up in their costumes. I let them take whatever they want from the candy basket cause I can't say no to them. This is one of the few times of the year where I wish I had children. Then I think about this sexy pair of shoes that I saw at the mall and thank God that I don't have any. :P I always get the good candy, cause why be cheap you're giving it out for free anyway. Unfortunately I openend up a bag so there are considerably less M & M's in there now. Note to self: pick up another bag of M & M's because once a bag is opened you might as well finish it.

Rant: Women over 40 are boring (looking that is).

This past weekend I went out amongst a crowd of women who were for the most part over 40. I came to the conclusion that all of the women there were so boring looking. I sat there amongst the conversation and just observed what was going on. They all had these mall haircuts, you know the type that I am talking about, every soccer mom has it. And they were all various shades of blonde or wanna be blond. And the wrinkles, I wont even go there! LOL. Is this what happens after you get married, that you just give up? The only ones that even made an effort were the divorced ones and trust me there is nothing more pathetic than a divorced woman over 40. They try too hard. I was the only natural brunette in the room. As a matter of fact I got a few compliments about this purple shirt that I wore. One woman said that it went mice with my dark hair. I smiled my best Grace Kelly smile and thanked her. That is twice in the last 6 months that some older woman has commented on my hair. I know I have great hair and I am not afraid of being a non-blonde. As a matter of fact I wear my dark hair with pride ( and my great green eyes)! Listen I am all for fighting the age monster and all that but I draw the line at going to the salon and coming out looking like every other surburban yenta. Get my drift?

So I am posting this up for everyone (who reads my blog that is) to see:

1) I will never ever go blonde. I will occasionally put red streaks in my hair to jazz things up a bit. Can't argue with that.

2) I refuse to get the mandatory short soccer mom haircut. Even if I ever become one.

3) I will fight every wrinkle and sag with every tooth and nail I got! That is why God invented anti-wrinkle cream and plastic surgeons.

4) In the case of a divorce I will not resort to dumbing myself down for a man. No man is worth that.

5) In the event that I have children I will continue to get manicures and pedicures cause damnit I am worth it. :)

6) I will never resort to department store "couture" ie. Kohl's, Penney's, Sears etc. As a former NYer I would rather die that get caught in a matching twinset from Hechts. Macy's and Bloomingdale's are ok because they carry high end stuff.

OK I really think that's it. I have to get back to bed. I am sure that there is come fascinating CNN story on I am missing. Oh and I am tired too.

Ciao.

How to spend your time at work....

Some of my favorite websites:

NY TIMES : Cause I really miss NYC sometimes. I usually stick to the NY Metro Section.

NY Daily News: DITTO.

The Onion: This is why the Internet was developed!

Yahoo: Cause I am addicted to email.

Fark: Make sure you read the thread called "I purchased a Linksys Wireless Router from Wal-Mart on October 8th, 2004 at about 10:15 p.m."

Thanks for reading my nonsense :)

According to my handy dandy visitor tracker I can see that I have gotten quite a few hits on my blog. Some international, some from the great state of MD and a few from some surrounding states. Thanks for taking the time to read my rants and raves :) More to come soon I promise!

What I am reading lately.

I made a recent trip to the local library because I have decided to cut down on the amount of money that I spend on books. I have way too many and I have a donation box sitting in my apt that I still need to take over to the Book Thing in Baltimore. I love to read and I used to collect books like I collect shoes (more on that some other time!). So I have decided to go to the library and see what they had. My only problem with them is their pesky time limit and that when I go in there I am like a kid in a candy store. :) One of my favorite childhood memories was going to the library with my mom and getting my first library card. I loved that card and I think that I may still have it somewhere. If anyone has ever read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn that same library that Francie Neely went to in Williamsburgh was the very same one that I went to as a kid.
Anyway, now I am reading a bunch of "Chick Lit" stuff that I have been meaning to read. I am taking a break from the historical biographies that I usually read. Sometimes one needs some fluff in their life, don't you agree? (FYI: Lady Antonia Frasier is a great choice for British Biographies I recommend Mary Queen of Scots. Its a long read but well worth it). Currently I am reading Maneater by Gigi Levangie Grazer and after that Babyville by Jane Green. I'll give you a review at a later date.

Essie Nail Polish

I am thinking about sending in a testimonial to Essie Nail Polish. I went to a crab feast today (wouldn't be a Baltimoron if you don't go to at least one a year) and I ate at least half a dozen huge ass crabs and guess what......no nail polish chipping! You heard right ladies not one nail suffered damage. I am still perfectly manicured baby! If that doesnt sell nailpolish I dont know what will.

Greatest Invention Evar!

Well maybe the second greatest. I got a Comcast DVR today and I am now a junkie. I have been recording shows all day and playing it all back :) It really came in handy when I was replaying some of the Yankee game. Now I will never miss an episode of America's Test Kitchen again!
