My stereo is playing...

As I was stuck in 6 hour traffic coming home from the city (and if you have to ask what city, shame on you) I rediscovered my "The Darkness" album. Since then I cant stop playing this song:

"Growing On Me"

I can't get rid of you
I don't know what to do
I don't even know who is growing on who

'Cos everywhere I go you're there
Can't get you out of my hair
Can't pretend that I don't care - it's not fair

I'm being punished for all my offences
I wanna touch you but I'm afraid of the consequences
I wanna banish you from whence you came
But you're part of me now
And I've only got myself to blame

You're really growing on me
(Or am I growing on you?)
You're really growing on me
(Or am I growing on you?)
Any fool can see

Sleeping in an empty bed
Can't get you off my head
I won't have a life until you're dead
Yes, you heard what I said

I wanna shake you off but you just won't go
And you're all over me but I don't want anyone to know
That you're attached to me, that's how you've grown
Won't you leave me, leave me alone

You're really growing on me
(Or am I growing on you?)
You're really growing on me
(Or am I growing on you?)

Any fool can see

You're really growing on me
(Or am I growing on you?)
You're really growing on me
(Or am I growing on you?)

Supermodel

Some pics of me when I was in Colorado this past summer.

On top of Pike's Peak with a indigenous mountain child behind me. It was freezing up there, hence the look on my face. Who am I kidding I look like that most of the time :)

This was taken in the hotel parking lot in Broomfield. Did you know that Broomfield County was established in 2000 which makes it the youngest county in the Nation? I'd rule on Jeopardy!

Serious Radio (Sirius Radio)

On the Sirius Radio website you can stream some stations on your computer for free for three days. You have to sign up with an email address (give them your spam account). So far I have been pretty please with what I have heard. They have a good selection of stations. I have listened to some Hip Hop, 80s, classical and dance stations. I do plan on subscribing once Howard Stern has started his show. Maybe we wont have to wait thirteen months if Infinity radio has their way.

Is Ray Lewis a fraud?

This article happened to catch my eye this morning. It's from the Dr. Z archive from SI.com

"Baltimore Ravens (6-3) OK, I'm gonna say something Ravens fans aren't going to like, but I ask them to please search their hearts to see if there's any truth to it. Ray Lewis is one of the great frauds of 2004. I've seen him six times now. Pretty decent against Cleveland the week before last. Got buried by the Chiefs. Against the Jets last weekend he was a zero when it got down to crunch time. On New York's last drive in regulation, that controversial field goal thing, Curtis Martin had crucial inside runs of 21 and five yards, and then, of course, there was Quincy Carter's nine-yard quarterback draw. Where was Ray? Running around blocks, playing the edges, taking on nobody, falling on the pile and then jumping up and waving his fist and yelling, as if he had made the play. Miked for sound? Of course. You bet. Never made a play in either of the Jets' overtime drives, either, unless you count the noise factor".

Sports Illustrated Online

I can't agree with this guy more. I am a Ravens fan but I never quite understood the fascination that Ravens fans have with this guy. I have seen him have some awesome hits, but this year I don't think that he's been all that (as they say in Brooklyn). It is fun the first few times to see Ray Ray do his dance when he comes into the Stadium but after a while it gets stale. I don't blame Terell Owens for this rants against Ray. Someone has to speak up for the rest of us! So the question is "Is Ray Lewis a Fraud"? Quite possibly.

Back to the Grind.

Back at work today. It's nice to know that the government can continue to function without me :) I had a great birthday, had lunch with a friend yesterday and just relaxed at home. Went away for the weekend and added another purse to my collection. I have a thing, more like an obsession for handbags (and shoes if you really must know). I only collect bags that will be worth something in the future (notice I said something - not money). I brought it in to work and all the girls oohh and ahhhed. It is a very nice Coach bag that I received as a gift. I am a very, very lucky girl ;)

The highlight of my day was going to Subway with Matt and Noelle. YIPPPEE!

Oh, check this site out Mulletjunky.

Awake at Night.

I have been having bouts of insomnia lately. I'll wake up at midnight and then can't fall asleep until 4 am. Its fine on the weekends but sucks during the week when I have to get up at 5:30 am for work. So I sit here and surf the web looking for something remotely interesting. Right now I am addicted to the Scott Peterson case. And as far as I am concerned that guy was a douche. Listen we have all had indiscretions and have wanted to off the ex. But listen, NORMAL people can control their feelings. Plus he as sloppy. I hate sloppy criminals. Well, off to bed, my cat is staring at me. I dont know if he's hungry or just asleep. Oh wait, he's eating from the garbage, that answers my question. Night Night readers.

Cause you're an asshole.

I've been bashed and battered and bruised and beaten I've been abused, misused and I've been mistreated I've been up and down and still I feel you're an asshole.

And I've looked at it from your side and I've looked at it from mine and I know you had a hard time when you were only 9 but that was long ago and now there's just now denying that you're an asshole...

Does it really matter?

The Census Bureau is being critized for changing from its long form questionnaire to a new form that is part of the American Community Survery (ACS). It is basically the same as the long form but isnt sent to 1 out of every 7 households, every ten years. The ACS survery is sent to selected US communities once a year. There has been a lot of debate both within and outside of the Bureau about the validity of the new survey. My question is "Does it really matter?"

Early Birthday Present?

Sunday morning I noticed an additional newpaper sitting on the driveway. It was the NY Times. I know that I didn't order it but there it was my fave newspaper in the world. Maybe it was from a secret admirer or maybe it is an early birthday present? Someone out there knows. I raise my coffee cup to you! Just make sure you keep the bill.

Help a soldier.

This website has information on sending a care package to soldiers overseas who haven't received anything from their loved ones. That makes me sad :( I am putting a package together this weekend. Why don't you?

SPF is your friend!

This morning before I went to the gym CNN has a show on anti-aging. It is amazing the things that people do to stop the clock. The doctor that was on the show said that the most important thing that you can do is to keep out of the sun. I totally agree with that. I have never been one to go out and tan (luckily if I go out into the sun once I am set for the entire year. I am still sporting a tan tht I got when I went to Cape Cod last year). You have no idea how damaging the sun is. If you ever tanned (naturally or in a booth) when you were younger you are going to pay for it when you get older. The UV rays are gonna cause wrinkles, loss of collagen (wonder why old people's ears and nose look like they are sagging-its the loss of collagen) and the big C. So if you are experiencing any of this now, sorry to hear that sister (or brother as may be the case). SPF is your friend! Use it and use it wisely, cause Botox cost like $500 a treatment :)

Coupling.

Last night I feel asleep early after watching tv. I was awakened by my significant other rubbing his cold feet against mine when he came to bed. I was half asleep and didnt say anything but his cold feet intertwined with mine felt really good. Even though they were freezing and stealing heat! I love being a couple.

My monthly horoscope for all you snoops.

Your intuitive powers are on from the 2nd through the 4th. And they're saying that you're right where you want to be to get just what you want! And what, you little minx, is it that you want? A better question would be -- who do you want? Whoever it is you, you're going to get them, if your old high-intensity come-hither gaze (which is working overtime and looking gooooood the 13th and 14th) has anything to do with it. You just look at them and they'll fall into your arms. (Probably.) Just remember, if you ask them to move in with you (isn't it a little soon?) the 19th, you can't get mad if they redecorate. No take-backs! Well, there are always take-backs, but once you mesmerize, it's not nice to go back on it just because they change the curtains. And the bedspread. And put 'original' art all over the living room. Hey, true love -- nobody said it was easy.

Sweet!

Presidential Election

I can't wait for this election to finally be over. I consider myself a political junky but honestly I can't bear to watch the tv anymore. To see those two stumping for votes and watching polls cooked up by news stations sickens me. Personally, I dont think that either one of them will do a better job that the other one. I would like to see Shrub out of office because I cant stand Cheney or Condy Rice. Well, let's see how pissed off I am tomorrow.

2 weeks and counting...

In exactly two weeks I will turn 29. At first I was dreading it but now I am ok with it. I have a feeling that there will be a lot of changes in the next few months. I am on the verge of ending one relationship and working on another. I am a sucker for horoscopes and for the past few days I have been reading that I become more assertive and telling people what I want. I feel like I lived for way too long trying to please others and getting nothing out of it. So my birthday present to myself is telling people exactly what I think. If they dont like it then fuck em! I am too old to be playing games :)

BTW: If you are interested in getting me a present look under the Archives section for some suggestions. ;)
