Apartment hunting sucks.
Now I remember why I hate moving. Today I did some online searching for apartments in Jersey. I have to go up there next weekend to find one to move into before I can start my job. I know little to nothing about Camden County except thatI DO NOT want to live in Camden. Other than that I am at a loss. I have been looking at some places in Lindenwold but from what I have found it ain't much better than Camden. I like Burlington County but I am not willing to pay that much for a place to leave. Call me cheap. Plus I want to be close to 295 so that I can take PATCO (or Speedline as the locals call it) into work. My goal is to find a reasonable one bedroom with AC and couple of windows for Leo in a relatively safe neighborhood near the Speedline. HELP!
Well, I can't help you too much since I've been out of the area for 9 years...
For starters you are sooooo right that you do not want to live in Camden (Which is kind of sad because it used to be a nice place. My mom grew up there and my grandfather was the Chief of the Camden Fire Department back in the 40's & 50's)
Stay away from Admiral Wilson Boulevard!
As for prices, You might want to try further north, near Trenton. SEPTA still has the high-speed commuter line that runs from there into center city Philly.
If you're not truely set on NJ, you could try Bucks or Montgomery counties in PA, might be cheaper than Jersey and you'll also have access to SEPTA high speed lines.
Places to avoid at all costs in Bucks couty:
Bristol, Bristol Borough, (Actually anyplace north on Rt.13 from the Philly line)
Avoid in Montgomery county:
Warrington, Warrington Mews
My best freind and his wife live in Langhorne Manor in Bucks county. It's right off the PA Turnpike exit 351, and again very close to the SEPTA high-speed line to center city.
Hope that helps. I wish I knew more about jersey other than the fact that (at least when I lived in PA) the auto insurance was considerably cheaper in PA, excluding Philly.
